Bergen’s growing visual arts scene is both national and international in scope. Galleries at the forefront include Bergen Kunsthall, Entrée, Hordaland Art Centre, Kunsthall 3,14 (non-western contemporary art) Kunstgarasjen, Tag Team, KRAFT, and S12 in addition to contemporary exhibitions at KODE art museums. Important clusters of artist's studios and workshops include Kulturhuset USF, Bergen Kjøtt, Trykkeriet and Aldea. B-Open is a festival based on open artists’ studios. Bergen Assembly is Bergen’s international triennial for contemporary art.

Electronic and new media arts are gaining in strength. BEK Bergen Center for Electronic Art is an important network and production hub. Lydgalleriet is the only exclusively sound-based art gallery in Norway, and Østre is a house for experimental music and sound-based art practices, housing both Lydgalleriet and the Ekko festival for electronic music. Piksel is an international festival and organization for electronic art and Landmark is an important performance venue. Festivals mentioned under pop and classical music also include electronic art.
