Get Notified About Unexpected Events
We want to inform you directly if something important happens that may affect you. This could include water shut-offs, road closures, evacuations, or other situations that require quick information from the municipality. Please check that your contact information is correct so we can reach you with important updates.
Can we reach you?
There are two different registers used to contact you as a resident:
- norge.no/oppdater-kontaktinformasjon
We recommend adding both your mobile phone number and email address to this national contact register. Many public authorities will use this register when contacting residents in the future – like how tax returns have been handled previously.
- varslemeg.no
An additional register you can use if you want to receive alerts for an address other than your registered residential address.
Businesses
When notifying businesses, the company associated with the address will be contacted based on its listing in the Business Register. Contact details for businesses are retrieved from Altinn. Companies with multiple addresses should register these as sub-units with the Brønnøysund Register Centre: brreg.no/bedrift/virksomhet/
When is the system used?
We inform our residents via SMS, voice messages, or email when appropriate. This could include water shut-offs, road closures, evacuations, and other situations requiring rapid communication.
Notifications by Geographic Area
The alert system is integrated with a mapping system, allowing us to quickly notify everyone living in a specific geographic area. When notifying residents, SMS messages are sent to mobile phones and voice messages to landlines. For major events affecting the entire municipality, we can notify all residents.
Check that your phone is linked to your residential address
To ensure accurate notifications, the system checks multiple registers: The Norwegian National Population Register, the municipality’s property register, and the public administration contact register.
